  • Hi there!

Welcome to my blog! I'm Renee - and I'll be your hostess while you're here. Whether this is your first visit or you’re a regular reader, I’m excited you stopped by! This is where you’ll see my latest work and meet my fabulous clients. It’s also where you’ll get to know me. The “me” who loves photography. But also the “me” who: loves my husband; is always looking for an occasion to throw a good party; roots passionately for the NC State Wolfpack; can’t get enough of the beach; and simply adores fabulous, girly frocks! Hopefully, you’ll become a client and I’ll get to know you, too. In the meantime, sit back, relax and enjoy yourself.

    XO,
    Renee

  • What I’m Doing….

Southern Bridal Show Booth

Wow, what a fantastic weekend it was at the Southern Bridal Show over at the NC State Fairgrounds!  It was great to get the chance to meet so many brides, grooms and their friends and family  – and introduce them to Renee Sprink Photography.

When I first started thinking about my booth, I knew it had to be authentically ME. Southern, girly glam and fun. And pink, to match my new branding that will be debuting later this year. I told my friend Priscilla, with Orangerie Events, my overall vision and she immediately put pen to paper, started drawing and brought my vision to life. Right there. In black and white. Now, my ideas for the booth fell apart and changed several times over the course of the last couple of weeks, but when it came together in the end, I think it was exactly what I had envisioned. Maybe even more so!

After a lot of sweat, tears and heart, here is the finished product!  Many, MANY thanks to Priscilla for helping me focus my vision and turn it into THIS!

So many people have asked where I got some of the items in my booth — the gorgeous girly table coverings were from CE Rentals and the beautiful, very last minute flowers were from my dear friend Shelley at Expressions of Love
The totally awesome photo tree came from my dear friend Julie at Julie Liles Floral and Event Designs. The fun pillows and frilly ottomans were from Home Goods and the gorgeous white furniture is from my friends at Themeworks
I got the sheer white drapes that pulled the gave the booth a cohesive look from Classic Party Rentals.
I could not have met with so many awesome brides throughout the day without the assistance of one of my 2010 brides-turned-dear-friend, Erin-Elizabeth! You totally rock! LOVE YOU!!

Many, many thanks to some special people, especially my husband Jeff and gal-pal Charlene, for helping me pull it all together at the last minute! I couldn’t have been more thrilled with it. A huge thank you to the other vendors who came up to offer compliments on it. It means more than you know! And to Dom and the Forever Bridal staff – holy wow! You guys are amazing!! You made my first wedding show an awesome experience!

Fashionista Friday | Jorge Manuel + Cate

It seems fitting that I feature Jorge Manuel and his gorgeous EMERALD gown for this installment of Fashionista Friday since Cate’s wedding hit the blog and Style Me Pretty this week. To say this gown was spectacular is an understatement – it had the perfect amount of high fashion flair and detail without being over the top. Just like Cate. And the custom gold-toned silk that Jorge used just for her made it that much more perfect.

I was incredibly honored to receive this note from Jorge when he saw these photos of Cate in her gown:

“Renee, Thank you for the opportunity to view your work. It is quite beautiful!
I am so proud of Cate. She truly looked amazing!
… From one artist to the other I am humbled by your work.  Sincerely,  Jorge Manuel”

If you’d like to read what Jorge had to say about Cate and her gown, check out this blog post.

I’ll highlight Jorge himself in a future post, but for now…just feast on this gorgeousness (both Cate and the gown)!

LoveloveLOVE this!

My favorite. Period.
Cate is totally workin’ it!
Yes, Coca-Cola, in fact I DO think you should use this in future advertising!

Thank you to STYLE ME PRETTY for featuring Cate & Tim’s stunning St. Regis Washington, D.C. wedding on their blog! You can read more about their wedding and see more of their pictures here.

Many, many thanks to all of the vendors who collaborated on this wedding. I am so glad to have gotten to know and work with each of you. And an even bigger thank you to Mackenzie Henry of InkSpot Crow Films who was instrumental in pushing me to submit images from this wedding! OXOX

St. Regis | Washington DC wedding: Cate + Tim

From the minute she started planning after Tim proposed, Cate’s vision for their wedding day was always to create an unforgettable experience for their guests. From the purple and white flowers, modern glamour and starburst motifs to the cookie and wine bar, five-course dinner and dessert lounge, Cate and Tim created a wedding at the St. Regis Hotel in Washington, D.C. that reflected their personalities and relationship perfectly.

On a gorgeous fall evening just as the sun was setting over the nation’s capital, friends and loved ones filled the St. Regis’ Astor Terrace in an outpouring of love and support, ecstatic to witness the joining of these two lives. With tears in their eyes and shaky voices, they exchanged personal vows filled with honesty, passion and hope, and promised to love each other through anything.

Following their vows, Cate’s brother read aloud the poem ”All I Really Need To Know I Learned In Kindergarten“ by Robert Fulghum. While it drew a few chuckles on the surface, if you stop to think about it, it sums up how to have a happy marriage quite nicely.

Most of what I really need
to know about how to live
And what to do and how to be
I learned in kindergarten.
Wisdom was not at the top
 of the graduate school mountain,
But there in the sandpile at Sunday school.

These are the things I learned:
Share everything.

Play fair.
Don’t hit people.
Put things back where you found them.
Clean up your own mess.
Don’t take things that aren’t yours.
Say you’re sorry when you hurt somebody.
Wash your hands before you eat.
Flush.
Warm cookies and cold milk are good for you.
Live a balanced life -
Learn some and think some
And draw and paint and sing and dance
And play and work everyday some.
Take a nap every afternoon.
When you go out into the world,
Watch out for traffic,
 hold hands and stick together.
Be aware of wonder.

Cate and Tim, thank you for being so amazing. I am incredibly lucky to have had you as clients…and to now call you friends. Your love for each other blows me away and I hope you are always as smitten with one another as you were on this day. I appreciate you welcoming me into your lives and for allowing me to document how fiercely you love. Each other. Your boys. And your family and friends. May you always: share everything; play fair; Say you’re sorry when you hurt each other; live a balanced life; and most importantly, hold hands and stick together. I love you! OXOX  ~ Renee

Be warned. This one is long and is sensory overload!

:-)
The St. Regis lobby was a photographer’s dream – so many details and architectural elements — and this was before we even got to the wedding!

Their reception – a five course culinary experience – was held at Adour, the St. Regis’ luxurious French restaurant – which also happens to be where Tim proposed to Cate!

Cate’s gorgeous champagne silk gown was created by the uber-talented Jorge Manuel.

One of my favorite ring shots. Ever. (And the best part — getting to eat Adour’s famous macaroons afterward!)
Cate’s morning began at Andre Chreky, just around the corner from The St. Regis.
Cate had help getting in her gown from her mother, Man of Honor Ray and dear friend Dana.
We had to utilize the lobby for a few portraits of the beautiful bride! You are fierce! Seriously. F-I-E-R-C-E!!
Meanwhile, Tim was across the street at The Hilton…
Cate had these fun cufflinks made just for  Tim to wear on their wedding day….
A happy groom…looking rather stately…how appropriate for the Capital City…
We walked over to Lafayette Park, just across from the White House, for their first look. Both bride and groom were a little bit anxious just before seeing one another….
but nerves quickly gave way to utter happiness and delight…
Such a sweet, tender moment for these two.
Cate chose this time to give Tim his wedding gift – a gorgeous Cartier watch.
I love this. To pieces. These next few images just make me happy.
Since they both work in the political arena, it was only fitting to get a few images with the White House in the background.
This one makes me swoon! I think I’m as smitten with them as they are with one another!

Love-love-L-O-V-E this!

A quick walk back to the hotel…

…and it was nearly ceremony time!
The girls at Evoke knocked the ceremony details out of the park!
A purple chandelier and chair ruffles? Oh yes, please!
Guests were greeted with “Cookies and Cork,” a cookie and wine tasting as they waited for the ceremony to begin.
The amazingly talented group Sons of Pitch, from George Washington University, entertained guests and provided the ceremony music.
A last minute detail and words of support…
“Marry Me”…
I love the look of complete joy that both Cate and Tim had as she walked in…
Love. This.
The look of love. This one image kind of says it all.
Sealed with a kiss…forevermore…
As guests showered the happy couple, Sons of Pitch broke into song: “Good Life” by OneRepublic
It’s going to be a “Good Life” indeed for Cate and Tim!
Guests celebrated with a cocktail party as formal portraits were made…
Cate, Tim and his two adorable boys. Are they not THE. cutest. things. EVER?!?!
It’s easy to see how this is such a beautiful couple…it’s in the genes!
Cate’s mom and grandfather. Love. Him!
The bridal party. They should be gracing the pages of Vanity Fair!
Cate and her coordinator outdid themselves with the reception details. Starting with the stacked cheese wheel that doubled as the seating “chart.” Guests were instructed to find and pull the spreader with their name to find their table number. Ingenious!

Loved their modern invitations and creative guest book — a cookbook for the couple’s new kitchen!
Get ready for some serious eye candy! The reception details were a-may-zing – from the beautiful white florals in modern black and rhinestone-trimmed vases to the wine bottle table numbers! Stunning. Seriously.
I love the look on their faces when they walked in and saw the reception for the first time!
For our foodies Cate and Tim, no celebration would be complete without a celebratory meal and wine shared with friends and family. The culinary staff at Adour are beyond amazing!
Cate and Tim had a chance to thank their guests between courses.
Toasts and words of love and support were given between courses as well. You can tell this is a special couple and that they are loved dearly!
Following dinner, guests were invited into the dessert lounge…which was as tasty as it was stunningly beautiful!
Chocolate, chocolate and more chocolate (not to mention macaroons and fruit tarts!)? Oh yes! It’s like heaven. In a sugar vat!
I think Tim approved!
The happy couple’s first dance…so. sweet.
I. heart. this.
Dancing with dad…and priceless reactions…
More time to mingle….
There is nothing like the love between a Mom and her daughter….
I love this family photo — Dad was having a blast!

Words of love and gratitude from the groom and his bride before cutting the cake….

And speaking of cake – how awesome is this cake — complete with chocolate capitol building topper….
Ending the evening with a kiss….

Many, MANY thanks to my dear friend Courtney Hathaway who spent the week with me in D.C., helping me prepare for and photograph this wedding! I couldn’t have asked for a better second photographer and companion for this wedding! I love you bunches!

If those images weren’t enough for you, watch this AMAZING film by InkSpot Crow Films….but have your tissues handy. You’re going to need them!

Highgrove Estate/Fuquay-Varina wedding | Michelle + Joe

As a wedding photographer, it’s so important to me that my couples and I connect on a personal level. We have to be around each other – closely – the entire day. There has to be a mutual “liking” of one another…And sometimes you just know. Like I know I’m going to simply adore a couple when their inquiry reads something like this: “We love your work and once we saw that you’re a Wolfpack girl, we stopped looking. We knew you are the one!” And adore them I do!

But not just because of the whole NC State thing (that just puts them over the top!). I adore them because of the way they are so smitten with each other. And because of the way they look at each other. And because of the importance they place on the things that really matter – like family. And friends. And the marriage. And because, well sometimes, you just know.

Michelle and Joe had a whopping three months engagement (yup – she totally pulled off this amazing wedding in three short months). Because she knew.

She knew that all the time in the world wouldn’t make her Highgrove Estate wedding any more amazing than it already was going to be. She knew that all she really wanted was to be surrounded by their family (and Joe has a BIG!! family) and friends in a celebration of their love. And she knew that Joe is her soul mate and that she was destined to be his wife. And she knew that waiting any longer was just wasting precious time that they could be spending together, creating a wonderful life together. She just knew.

Michelle and Joe, YOU. ROCK. MY. WORLD! Really, you do! You are proof that I truly do have the best couples in the world. Thank you to both of you – and to your precious families – for welcoming me into your lives and allowing me to document all the smiles, the laughs and the happy tears on your wedding day. I hope you will cherish these first (of many, I’m sure) photos of your new family and wish you a long LONG happy life together. Much love! OXOX ~Renee

Highgrove Estate provided the perfect setting for Michelle and Joe’s vintage glam wedding and reception!

What’s not to love about a red door? Especially when it serves as a backdrop for a moss-and-rose-covered heart! Love!
Committing your life to the person of your dreams on a gorgeous sunny day overlooking a pond? Ummm…yes, please!
It was expected to be a bit windy and brisk during the ceremony, so Michelle and Joe provided each guest with a blanket to keep them warm. Such a thoughtful touch!
Their paper suite set the tone and added the perfect amount of “glam” to the day!

A gorgeous gown for a gorgeous bride…
This was Michelle’s baby bonnet that her Mom has saved all these years to convert into a handkerchief to be used on her wedding day. Such a sweet sentiment!
Getting the bride into her gown is always such a special time for mother and daughter. Michelle’s mom Peg got a little choked up while helping her put on her gown.
The bridal suite at Highgrove offers a birds-eye view of the ceremony site and the guests. Michelle couldn’t help taking a quick peek!
We had just a few minutes alone before she met her dad to walk down the aisle. We took advantage of that time together to take a few portraits. Michelle, you are just all kinds of gorgeousness!

You are stunning, Michelle. Seriously! S-T-U-N-N-I-N-G!
Meanwhile….in the groom’s suite…
The bride’s nephew was the sign bearer….if you think he’s adorable here…just wait….
until you see him carrying his sign to lead the bride down the aisle. Cutest. kid. ever!
I love this shot of Joe waiting for his bride… anticipation
…gives way to the biggest smile when he finally sees her!
If it looks like the officiant is unusually happy to see a bride walk down the aisle, it’s because he’s Joe’s dad. And is thrilled to gain a new daughter!
Michelle’s parents didn’t lose a daughter…they gained a son whom they adore! Such a heartfelt moment between the two most important men in Michelle’s life…
I. heart. Highgrove!
Warm and happy family and friends…
The look on the sign bearer’s face as he watches the proceedings is priceless….a mixture of awe and approval!
Joe’s nephews captured it all…
The happy couple…ready to celebrate with their family and friends.
Love. Love. LOVE!
Cutting up with the bridal party with chocolate lips and mustaches from the candy bar… Too cute!
Portraits of the happy couple…
These make me wish every venue had a swing!

Work it Michelle! Rawr!

I loved Michelle’s simple grey and cream color scheme for the day…so elegant…
Beautiful florals designed by Flowers on Broad Street
…
This Sweet Memories Bakery  cake was as yummy as it was pretty!
Michelle and Joe opted for a candy bar as favors for their guests – it was a big hit with young and old alike!
These white marshmallow candies held the rings perfectly and made for a fun ring shot…
Welcome to the new Mr. and Mrs….
A beautiful first dance…
Michelle’s dad welcomed guests and offered a blessing before the meal…
Michelle and Joe provided “accessories” at the children’s table to keep them entertained….
Michelle and Joe danced the parent dances together …
and then invited the other parents to join in as well….
A heartfelt – and funny – toast from Joe’s best friend/best man…
After cutting the cake…it was time to for everyone – groom included – to shake their groove thing…
I love when couple’s incorporate an “anniversary” dance into their celebration…
In a fun tribute to Joe’s Italian heritage, guests circled the happy couple as the DJ played That’s Amore…and each time those famous words were sung, the entire group rushed in to hug them.
Now THAT’S amore!

It appears someone wanted that garter so badly he had to cheat….with one of the groom’s nephews, no less…
The bouquet and garter toss led to some interesting “after catch” antics…
Now there’s a look! Priceless!
A big kiss before the big send-off…

Many thanks to Brooke Wolfe for assisting me with this wedding! You are awesome!
