beauty reigns in the old north state

A few weeks ago I made this post about my friend and fellow Wolfpacker (holla!) Adrienne Core being crowned Miss North Carolina back in June. And I promised a few images from a photo shoot we did back in May. So, here they are. Better late than never, I always say.

Adrienne and I got up super early one morning and literally just walked around downtown Raleigh looking for little nooks and crannys and hidden spots filled with great light. Intending to only spend a couple of hours, the more we walked, the more we found. We were talking and laughing and had so much fun, before we knew it we were pushing the four hour mark. Nearly four hours of smiling for Adrienne. And nearly four hours with my eye glued to the camera. And honestly, I think both of us could have gone another four hours. Easily.

At least I could have. Adrienne is super easy to photograph. And not just because she is beautiful on the outside – she clearly is! But mainly because she has such a natural warmth and beauty inside that it just radiates through her eyes and her smile.

I think it’s pretty easy to see how she won Miss North Carolina. And I’m excited because, now that she is,  we get to do this all over again in the near future.

One of my favorite locations in Raleigh – I just love the architecture and texture of this old building. For some reason, it seems European to me. Like I should get to wear a beret and speak with cool, romantic accent just by photographing there.

Wow! Are you kidding me with that gorgeousness?

Seriously??? Stunning.

My favorite.

I love it in black and white too. A lot.

This gorgeous light just added to Adrienne’s gorgeousness. W.O.W.!

Who knew an old church could look so good?

Work that urban chic, girl!

You really should be in a magazine!

Adrienne looks like the all-American girl here…love them!

Another favorite!

Another favorite!

A true Southern belle….

Could you be any more gorgeous?!!

Adrienne will be representing our state in the Miss America Pageant live from Las Vegas on January 15, 2011. Be sure to tune in to ABC and cheer her on!

25 days and counting…

Twenty-five days and counting. Twenty-five long, hot days. Twenty-five days filled with anticipation. Twenty-five days filled with tailgate menu planning. Twenty-five days filled with checking tents and chairs, inventorying (is that a word??) red plates, napkins, cups, etc. TWENTY-FIVE DAYS. Yes, indeed, the countdown has begun.

Twenty-five days sounds like it’s just around the corner, but for those of us who can’t wait for the best season of all, twenty-five days seems like an eternity away. At 6 p.m. on Saturday, September 4, NC State football will be underway. And I can’t wait. My gang of Pack Peeps will hit our tailgate spot at 1 p.m. and spend the rest of the afternoon sharing memories of summer, college and football seasons past. And i can’t wait!

But, since I’m going to have to wait – at least for 25 more days – I thought I would drag out some of the images I took at the spring game back in April. If you’re like me, these images will whet your appetite more….possibly even making these next 25 days seem longer. But I’m hoping it will be enough to tide us over. In the meantime, I’d love to hear your favorite tailgate/football stories – even if you’re a fan of one of those other teams in the area. Or, if you have tailgate menu suggestions, I’d love to hear those too!

Old faithful… (the grill and the grillmaster!) The grill seems to be on its last legs. The grillmaster, however, is well-rested since last season and rarin’ to go….

I just love the ‘details’ as seen around our stadium….like cool banners…

and even cooler wolves…

Our spring game is held in memory of the late and much beloved Kay Yow, who died in January 2009 of breast cancer. Over $50,000 has been raised for breast cancer research during the 2009 and 2010 spring games.

What should be a fairly explosive offense, workin’ it out……. ahhhhhhhooooooooooohh! (that’s a howl people. and you’re supposed to howl it when you read it.)

“Train up a child in the way he should go….”    Wasn’t that written about becoming a State fan???  Looks like some parents are getting it just right!  :-)
I fell in love with this little guy sitting behind us. As an aside, if anyone knows who this guy is, please send me an email with his name and email. I’d love to send him these photos of his little guy. He left the spring game before i had a chance to talk to him.

How stinkin’ cuuuuuute is this?

Or how about this cute little cheerleader?? She’s got the Tuffy salute down and everything!

It clearly doesn’t take much to entertain me because I love looking at what people are wearing at the games. Perhaps the “short dress with cowboy boots in the 99 degree weather of september” trend that I totally don’t get will be a future blog post…but I digress…here is a random t-shirt that I just thought was cool…

And my favorite photo – of the most awesome t-shirt ever…   if it applies to you and your team, you know who you are!:-)

first look at a beautiful bride: erin-elizabeth

So I’ve been working on photos from Erin-Elizabeth and Matt’s gorgeous wedding for several days now and the plan was (is) to have their “sneak peek” up on the blog in the next couple of days. That’s still the plan…but when I saw this gorgeousness, I couldn’t help but share it with you all right away.

My word, EE! This image doesn’t lie. You are beautiful!

Very nice photo Renee! :)

wedding: kristen + seth

I love weddings. I truly do. I love everything about them. The excitement; the emotion; the gowns; the details.

And the wedding of Kristen and Seth that I photographed back in the spring with my good friend and colleague, Amanda Eller, was no exception. And it didn’t hurt that she chose a pretty shade of pink (which y’all know is my personal favorite) and cream as her wedding colors.

We started the day with Kristen having her makeup and hair done at Bella Lago salon in Salisbury. Kristen is such a beautiful girl – the makeup artist didn’t have to work too hard to get her ready.

All brides should be as happy as Kristen was on her wedding day!

Elvis had nothing on Kristen and her smokin’ blue suede shoes!

She had one of the most elegant gowns I’ve seen in a good while — I just loved it’s simplicity.
Her mother and BFF/maid of honor helped her get into it and all zipped up.
Yowza! Seth was looking all handsome like he’d stepped out of GQ Magazine…
I love this image with Seth and his boys…
And are these some stunning bridesmaids or what? These girls were such a delight to be around…
Beautiful BFF….i can’t get over her eyes (yes, they were really that blue!)
Could this little guy possibly be any cuter as he makes sure the coast is clear for the bride? I love ring bearers with personality – and this one was loaded with it!
This image of Kristen just before she walked into the church with her dad is one of my favorites.
Being a daddy’s girl myself, this image just makes me happy. There is just something about brides and their dads on their wedding day …
Their traditional service was held at the lovely Gays Chapel United Methodist Church in Salisbury and was just a sweet display of love.
Kristen was having a hard time holding back the tears.
Another favorite image from their day…
The new Mr. and Mrs….
They held their reception at the Historic Salisbury Train Depot – an amazing old train station that’s been restored and renovated especially for events like this.

A gorgeous cake for a gorgeous couple…and it was as yummy as it was pretty too!

Fun introductions at the reception…
These are two of my favorite first dance images – perhaps ever…
They looked at each other like this all night long….
talk about the googly eyes….THIS is why i love weddings!
The happy couple – so much in love!
This image of Kristen and her dad is so poignant…
I love how happy for them that their friends were…
Cutting the cake…
This bride certainly wore her boogie shoes….she was on the dance floor most of the night – with or without her groom!
I just love a good party and a fun dancing crowd – and this bunch sure didn’t disappoint!

Thank you Kristen & Seth for allowing me to be part of your day – I was truly honored. And thank you, Amanda, for allowing me to be your sidekick and partner. As always, it was a blast!

What a lovely fun wedding. Some of my faves are the one of the bride just before walking in to the wedding and also the first dance with the ring and the bokeh! Lovely.
